An Introduction for Donor IVF

Donor IVF (or Donor Egg IVF) is an In Vitro Fertilization method that uses another woman's eggs for conception.

There are two groups of women who may be recommended to undergo this procedure. They have been classified into:

  1. Those with immediate need:

    1. No ovaries due to prior surgeries or congenitally underdeveloped ovaries from conditions such as Turner's syndrome, etc.
    2. Premature Ovarian Failure, characterized typically by low estrogen, high FSH (>30-40 mIU/ml)
    3. Post Menopause
    4. Impaired Ovarian Reserve, characterized by a low number of eggs due to previous medical procedures such as chemotherapy
  2. Those with the following circumstantial reasons:

    1. Based on mutual decision by the patient and doctor these patients may, at certain stage of treatment, elect to undergo donor egg IVF
    2. Women still having regular periods, or still producing eggs but who have experienced multiple failed IVF trials
    3. Women between the ages of 44-46

New Hope also assists patients using anonymous or directed sperm donors. Patients are allowed to purchase anonymous sperm donors from accredited sperm banks across the country. We are able to screen directed donors (patient partner or known sperm donors) using the screening tests mandated by the FDA.
